Goody Hair Accessories Giveaway: GIVEAWAY #1

Goody Accessories Giveaway!!

Hey Guyssss, we are running our first giveaway for the blog! We're really excited about this, and can't wait to share some of the wonderful Goody and other brand hair accessories that we love wearing. Coming to you brand new with tagging, we will be doing a contest with 4 winners. Each winner will recieve a handful or "stash" of approximately 6 pieces of hair accessories such as clips, headbands, elastic, bobby pins, etc (DETAILS BELOW)

Here are a few pictures of some of the pieces that we like to wear:

Chain Link Headband with Stretch. Great for thick hair, compliments most styles! The brushed Silver toned color allows it to be an "everyday" piece for that casual outfit.

As you can see, the little ones can wear this, as well as adults. I love unique hair accessories. This will get much play during our hot Summer months! Oh, we can't forget the Zebra with pink trim detailing purse accessory....it's this season's "must-have" LOL!

Headbands that can stretch offer much styling versatility. Can be worn with buns, ponys, loose styling and all types of up-do's.
Below, is a sort of stitch detail heaband. I love this one because of it's color and versatility. This can be worn open to the fullest, or scrunched up to a thinner width. This helps pull back hair quite effectively! Great Spring/Summer color combination going on here.

  1. One haircare practice that can lead to length retention while using a relaxer is to eliminate or reduce the use of direct heat ie hand held dryers and flat irons. Occassional roller sets under a hooded dryer would be less harmful to the hair!

  2. Using water based moisturizers instead of silicone and petroleum based products can help relaxed hair to retain length, because it will help to keep hair moisturized and prevent breakage.

  3. Protect your ends and nurture the hair where the relaxed hair meets the new growth. There are so many but I am sticking with those two.

  4. Extend time between relaxers. It give hair time to grow and prevents overlapping of already processed hair.

  5. My best relaxed haircare practice is to relax properly such as not leaving it on too long or letting it burn your scalp which could lead to permanent damage and breakage, impeding hair growth and retention

  6. I would say protect those ends and moisturize and sealing

  7. Keeping your ends moisturized and in protective styles is one sure way to retain length with relaxed hair.

  8. If i was still relaxed I would probably carefully detangle my hair because I use to rip through my hair quickly with a comb, instead of taking my time, which is a big no no. I probably would have retained more length if I would have taken my time(with the right comb of course (: ).

  9. Protein protein protein! When you relax, you break down those bonds in your hair... and you need a protein treatment to keep relaxed hair strong and from breaking. Aphogee products are good.

  10. When your are relaxed I think protective styling is very important. Like sew-in's, braids, bun and so on. I had long relaxed hair when I was relaxed because I wore a lot of protective styles and I did not use so much heat on my hair.

  11. protective styling and minimum usage of heat i believe are the best practices for relaxed, natural, or in between. it allows your hair to grow because you arent doing too much damage! heat used to dry out my relaxed hair so bad but i kept using my flat iron everyday! it left my hair dull and limp after too much abuse! once i started to set styles that i could keep for up to a week, my hair was happier! moisture was locking into my hair better! moisture is key! i had a hard time with that during my relaxed days! ahh you picked a great topic! i could go on and on!

  12. This is a nice give away. My best tip for length retention is moisturizing and sealing the ends of your hair and protective styling

  13. Cleanse regularly, moisturize, trim and protect your ends, stretch relaxers and little to no heat. It worked for me, now im fully natural. I love it!

  14. I think that If I had known about moisturizing and sealing in that moisture I would have done better being relaxed. I also know that I used way too much heat along with overprocessing my hair on a monthly basis for years. I relaxed every 30 days faithfully and that was too much. I knew nothing about the need for a balance of protein and moisture either. I now know my mistakes but I wouldn't go back to relaxed hair for all the tea in china...LOL !

  15. The most useful tip that I used when I was relaxed was to use limited heat tools, combs and brushes on the hair since they increase breakage on chemically-treated hair.

    ReplyDelete
  16. the best thing you could do is to protect your hair in styles that dont cause to my tension or pulling at the keep in moistured if relaxed dont over process it and sleep in a satin scrap, bonit or pillowcase to protect you hair.

  17. I wore relaxed hair for 30 yrs! Not to say I'm an expert because I'm far from that :-) But what I've learned is that decreasing the use of heat and styling tools such as blow dryers, flat irons and curling irons. Also conditioning the hair and doing a protein treatment at least once to twice per month. I would say deep conditioning every other week or once per week also helps. Wearing hair in a wash n go during the warm months with alcohol free gel, and using a variation of the curly girl method. I used to put conditioner in my hair and leave it in whenever I went to the beach or pool and wash it afterwards. Quite honestly I used alot of the methods I use with natural hair as when my hair was relaxed. Only new thing is the essential oils used and less cones and sulfate. Sorry this is so lengthy :-)

  18. There are many different ways that I've learned to retain length of my relaxed hair. First of all, moisurizing and strengthening are very important. Moisturizing and sealing from roots to ends is highly necessary, as well as trimming ends regularly to prevent split ends from causing further damage. Also, moisturizing and wrapping hair before bed to prevent breakage that way. Using as little heat as possible, or a heat protectant when necessary, is healthier for the hair as well.

  19. I would be sure that you reduce heat and still keep ends protected. My little sis wears relaxed hair and once she began tucking the ends of her ponytail and avoiding the flat irons, her hair began to flourish.

  20. Moisture and protein balance is a necessity for relaxed and natural hair :)

  21. My relaxed hair took off when I learned about the moisture/protein balance of hair.At one point, I didn't own a moisturizer and didn't know what a protein conditioner was!Once I knew better, I did better and my relaxed hair thanked me for it.

  23. Its hard to choose one... okay my guess is wearing more low manipulation hairstyles to help to grow relaxed hair. I remember combing my hair to style in the morning and combing my hair to wrap at night. Now that I am natural I only use a wide tooth comb to detangle once a wk. I'm noticing lots more length retention. So if I had it to do over again this is what I would try differently.
Thanks for creating a fun giveaway! I look forward to reading your blogs since I'm following now :-D

  24. In winter, use more protective styles so ends don't catch and breakoff on sweaters, scarfs, and wool.

  25. -STRECHING UR RELAXER ( 6 MONTHS AT LEAST)
-CLIP UR ENDS; ONLY WHEN NEEDED
    -MOISTURIZE AND SEAL EVERY DAY
--OF COURSE: FIND THE RIGHT RELAXER, NOT JUST THE ONE EVERYBODY USES
overall find out what works for u, build a stable regimen and stick with it.

  26. I found that stretching my relaxers and using wigs for the purpose of protective styling has definitely helped me with retaining length. Thanks for sharing guys!

  27. Limiting the use of my flat iron and wearing heat free styles was the best thing I did for my hair when I was relaxed

    ReplyDelete
  28. I would of use less heat, did my hair mysel, moisturize nd seal along with deep condish nd protein treatments all would have benefited but i HATE perms so i would have went natural anyways lols :)

  29. Low manipulation worked for me. I did not know that was what I was doing at the time though. I was just lazy about it. I did not comb everyday. I would not even wrap it every night. Just tie with a satin scarf. My hair grew to the middle of my back; the longest length before I cut it.

  30. One haircare practice that I know leads to length retention while relaxed is periodic hair trimmings, yes, you have to keep those "split ends" under control!! I know it sounds contradicting, but it works....

  31. Three things were major for me:

    1. Ditch the brush! Properly detangled relaxed hair can be smoothed in so many ways (hands, headbands, silk scarfs, etc). I used to brush, brush, brush. I was raised on the "100 strokes a night helps your hair grow" theology, so I was a nighttime brusher, as waell as a daytime "slick" my hair down w/a brush and ---oh no--- an alcohol based gel girl! I cringe just thinking about it!

    2. My hair is almost never completely dry, and it's usually more wet than damp. That has made a world of difference! Water is the best moisturizer there is, and my hair is always at least damp (then sealed), and sealed from root to tip. I use water w/leavin-ins, oils, etc. and again...seal. :)

    3. A proper diet. When I increased healthy protein, added antioxidants and healthy omega oils, it help to make sure I was treating my hair both inside and out.

Those 3 things automatically result is rare heat, protective styles, and the ability to stretch my relaxer, a natural sheen (from a proper diet), and awesome growth.

    Love & Peace
    Annette

  32. If I could go back to my relaxed days, I would use a lot more water. From spraying it down with the bottle and using water based products, to simply not being afraid of water touching it. It wouldn't be bone straight, mind you. But I never liked the way i looked with bone straight hair, so I would've been alright!

  33. One thing that i think that would help me retain length as someong with relaxed hair would be...to do more deep treatments (protein treatments) in the hair....

    ReplyDelete
  34. Stretching the time in between relaxers and keeping your ends moisturized can really help with length.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I would have to say low manipulation and less direct heat. I would also have to say that gettin relaxers to often is a big NO-no. Its not a much difference than taking care of you hair while being natural.Only difference is with being relaxed than natural are the textures u can still use the same technique as if you are natural!
